PURPOSE   

The System Engineer supports Ascend’s internal platform operations by administering core business applications, executing system integration tasks, and enhancing reliability across tools and services. Building on foundational knowledge, this role owns medium-complexity workstreams, resolves Tier 2 platform tickets, and supports planning for system lifecycle events such as migrations and retirements. The position is ideal for professionals growing their skills in enterprise platform architecture, application administration, and operational support across multiple environments. 

RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Independently administer and maintain core applications such as ServiceNow, Okta, and others managed by the Platform team. 

  • Resolve Tier 2 tickets involving system access, platform performance, advanced configuration, and user onboarding/offboarding scenarios. 

  • Assist in planning and executing application consolidations, license audits, and access reviews during acquisition integration efforts. 

  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of internal configuration standards and access control procedures. 

  • Ensure accurate system relationships and data within the ServiceNow CMDB by reviewing CI data and resolving inconsistencies. 

  • Document system processes, workflows, and platform changes to support onboarding, knowledge sharing, and audit readiness. 

  • Participate in evaluating new applications or tools, assessing integration complexity and alignment with business needs. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to collect feedback and iterate on internal tool improvements. 

  • Monitor platform ticket queues to ensure timely responses, appropriate routing, and consistent closure standards. 

  • Provide support and mentorship to Associate System Engineers on platform administration and request handling. 

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management. 

  

MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE   

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in enterprise IT, platform support, or system administration. 

  • Strong understanding of enterprise platforms, SaaS ecosystems, and user access workflows. 

  • Experience supporting identity platforms, service portals, and ITSM tools. 

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize issues, and document technical processes. 

PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or certifications in platforms like Okta or ServiceNow. 

  • Experience in acquisition-related IT integration, application rationalization, or SaaS optimization projects. 

  • Familiarity with platform usage reporting, licensing management, and system audits. 

  • Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or enterprise support environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   

Must be able to sit, stand, and bend for the duration of shift. The position is mainly sitting, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, such as laptop, server equipment, and, driving to the work site to meet with client(s).
